Question:
Could John Wall be traded along with Monta Ellis if the Warriors win this year's NBA Draft Lottery?

Scouts say that Monta Ellis plays better as the shooting guard than as the point guard. Also, John Wall is taller than Stephen Curry, so the Ellis-Wall back-court should not be so undersized that they, quoted by Monta Ellis, "can't do it." Also, I think the Warriors could get someone big if they trade Monta Ellis. Here was the best trade I could find:

Warriors get: O.J. Mayo and Zach Randolph, who both have expiring contracts after next season
Grizzles get: Monta Ellis, Vladimir Radmanovic (for cap space), Brandan Wright (heart and soul of Warriors' bad luck with injuries), John Wall

Perhaps Mayo and Zach Randolph, with Anthony Randolph as a backup, will help the Warriors make a big playoff push in 2010-11, and John Wall will build on the Grizzlies' future, for Zach Randolph is just having the best season of his career. I know this trade makes Brandan Wright the Grizzlies' best power forward, but at least he got drafted #8 in the first round, and he had the second highest Player Efficiency Rating on the Warriors team in 2008-09, according to John Hollinger.

The chances of the Warriors getting Wall are fairly slim. They have a chance, but with Wall projected going #1 it is somewhat of a longshot.

If the Warriors did get the #1 pick, they would be faced with a predicament. They already have Curry at PG and an undersized Ellis at SG. If they got the #1 they would have some difficult decisons to make.

I think Wall would be much more valuable as trade bait than Ellis. Wall is more of a natural PG and has a better feel for the game. Ellis is seen as selfish and undersized for his postion. Wall is one of the most highly prized draft picks in recent memory. If the Ws had that pick, I think they would have a number of suitors knocking on their door. Your deal is not bad, but I think the Warriors might be giving up too much for those two players. If the Griz wanted Wall, I wouldn't give up Wright and I would also make them take Maggette's bloated contract. I guess we'll have to wait and see. As far as problems go, it would be a nice one to have.

The Warriors don't need any of these guys, if we didn't let Baron Davis go, we could have traded Ellis and few different guys, there were rumors we could've traded for K.G. back in 2007, last year we in talks to get Amare from the Suns for Ellis, Bedrins and Wright. We need a Center, the biggest problem we have is that the team is all guards.

If it aint broken, than don't fix it. The Grizzlies have young talent and they are winning. If the Warriors do get the #1 pick, I think they will keep that pick and take Wall. The team that needs Wall the most is the Nets, just to put fans in the stands, but the team that could use him to win is the Clippers. Baron Davis just isn't doing it for the Clippers and a back-court of John Wall and Eric Gordon would be electric.

Warriors wouldn't think about trading John Wall if they got him.
