RPI- ratings percentage index
take winning percentage and divide by 4
+
take Opponent's winning percentage and divide by 2
+
take opponent's opponent's winning percentage and divide by 4
their sum equals RPI.
So to recap it consists 25% of winning percentage, 50% of opponent's winning percentage, and 25% of opponent's opponent's winning percentage.
It is designed to account for both difficult stregnth of schedules and good records. Unfortunately, most RPI formulas don't account for home/away games.

RPI stands for...
Rating Percentage Index. The figure this out by 1/4 of the teams(Winning Percentage) + 1/2 of the(Opponents' Average Winning Percentage) + 1/4 pf the (Opponents' Opponents' Winning Percentage). This gives the team its RPI, allowing them to be ranked appropriately

RPI is the rating percentage index. the formula is 1/4*(Winning Percentage) + 1/2*(Opponents' Average Winning Percentage) + 1/4*(Opponents' Opponents' Winning Percentage). This gives the team its RPI, thus allowing them to be ranked appropriately
