Yea that was definitely a throw-in. Nobody probably noticed since it so pretty much hyped up.

Jamario screwed up by putting that tape down. Though it was a good dunk, but when he put the tape on the floor, people thought he was going to jump two feet away from the free throw line and the judges expectations were shut down.

The problem is that one of the biggest part of the Slam Dunk contest is originallity. Rudy Gay is a guy whose dunks in the slam dunk do not come very different that what he actually does in a regular game. As far as Moon i think his dunk was great but it did not have that flavor to spice it up and that is what gave him the same scores as Green(who in my opinion apart from the candle it sucked). Although Moon was good i do not think he would have standed a chance against Dwight. Not only was his dunk more original but he is also the most popular player of them all. By the way i think we all saw that wasnt a real dunk but everyone liked the costume and that is why they let it pass.

well...here's the thing. He got a perfect 50 before even starting the dunk...just from the cape and the superman shirt, he won...the whole thing was just crazy...the hangtime he got...it was obvious that he meant to throw it...if he wanted to dunk it...he would've held onto the ball and tried it again...I dont think it was worth a 50 for the reasons you gave...but honestly, I think it was one of the best of the nite.

For the record, IDK if the judges noticed it, one of them was sure to, but the announcers saw it and mentioned it.

green's dunk with the birthday cake was extremely creative, and that is why he earned the score he did.

rudy gay wouldve gotten a 50 on the last dunk if howard hadnt done virtually the same dunk (only better) the first time around. as for moon, I would say his first dunk was nice, but the second one, if he didnt put any tape down, he wouldve gotten a better score. because he did, and got everyone excited, he let everyone down by jumping from a step or two inside the free throw line. although he did do it lefty, which was a point in his favor.

The nba has real issues. Let the judges and the ppl who origniated this contest decide who wins. I had respect for dwight howard before this but hes lost almost all of my respect. its a dunk contest not halloween. Do a dunk, stop dressing up for the crowd. The last great dunk contest was 03. I'm a big vc fan and i still think that in 2000 he was the single greatest performer at any dunk contest. He's one of the best dunkers to ever play. he had the crowd on their feet the whole night. Now its just a joke. the nba better start getting some better guys in the contest or the contestants should just get back to the basics and stop trying to do some crazy dunk, or throw.

moon was robbed on his score. the other dunks were very very talented but depended heavily on props which have nothing to do with actual talent,if moon put on a superman outfit and did his dunk he would have gotten 10's, it just shows you the direction that this comp is heading in. The NBA should split the comp into two categorizes:

a)pure skills(example:carters dunks in '00)

b)creative talent(example:howards dunks in '08)

But congrats to the big man!

and about that birthday candle thing, i am willing to bet any of the four dunkers in this comp could do that LOL as for moons jump from just after the free throw line.... NOBODY in that comp could do that especially left handed! and from a hard pass from a team member

They are trying to do anything to make the dunk contest matter again. Kenny Smith was driving me insane, he was screaming after every dunk that happened. I didn't find any of them all that impressive. Jamario Moon was definitely the best dunker out there. Dwight Howard just happens to have the biggest star and name out there, no one has ever even heard of Moon.

I'm sure Howard didn't mean to do that (throw the ball through the hoop); came so close to bouncing it off the back of the rim. But I refuse to hate on Dwight. It's refreshing to find an all-star caliber player who WANTS to participate in the dunk contest and have fun with it. Besides, his behind the backboard and double tap dunks were MONEY!

I just posted that question. Although Dwight still deserved to win because of his other dunks, but I fell Robed as a fan for him getting 50 on that super man stuff, it wasn't a dunk, anyone can throw it in, he had the oppotunity to dunk it, he should have, its called a slam dunk contest

Wow, Gerald Greens birthday cake dunk deserved a 50. How many guys can jump to the top of the rim and have the presence of mind to blow out a candle?

First of all, his dunk was farther. Second, it was a dunk. DH took off from in front of his tape line too. The NBA is awful.

I think people did notice Dwight's throw in... it just somehow didn't get noticed by the judges (I don't know how they missed it ~ maybe there were just caught up in the moment with the whole superman thing).

You are correct. They should have given it to Jamario Moon by default since Dwight Howard just threw it in and deserved a much lower score.

that wasnt a dunk i think he should of got disqualified for just throwing that ball in the hoop its the dunk contest not the shooting contest

Too the person who said Howard should be DQ yeah right. Like Nate Roberson should've been DQ when he won it.
