All you lakers hater complain about us getting a deal on Gasol but are you blind? Look at how Fisher and LO are playing. LO was there and when Fisher came Kobe wanted to either be traded or Mitch to get him some help. He said he knew he couldnt win alone, whats wrong with that? Then if you remember he demanded Jerrry West to come back. Jerry said No that he had retired but behind the scences he delieved us Gasol. Mr Clutch came through once again...You would have to be blind to see west leave LA then devolpe Gasol then the year he leave Memphis Gasol get hand delieved. Thank you

Jerry West has already said he had nothing to do with the Gasol deal. There was no conspiracy, he wasn't working behind the scenes to orchestrate things. Memphis unloaded Pau because they were desperate to dump salary, had a player who wasn't happy in his situation and who couldn't carry the team as the main guy, so they traded him off for an expiring K so they could build for the future, and reduce expenses for a possible future sale of the team.

I repeat, Jerry West has gone on record that he did not have a hand in the trade, and I'll take the word of the man himself over folks who don't have any and first hand, or even second hand, knowledge of what happened.

As much as it galls so many of my fellow Laker fans, they just have to acknowledge that Mitch Kupchak went out there and did a good job this season. He's made good decisions in not trading Bynum for Kidd, acquiring Ariza, then pulling off the Gasol trade.

What up tmpl924,

Most people miss on this: The trade is very one-sided in the immediate because the main component that Memphis received was Kwame Brown (and it wasn't obviously for his skills but the $9 million dollars that comes off the books next year- which will help them in their rebuilding process).

Laker fans also remember that Javaris Crittenton showed a world of potential... and picking up some 1st rounders didn't hurt the Grizzlies either, on top of Pau's brother Marc.

i think in a couple of years this trade may not seem as one sided as it is now.

Also Jerry West was not the one who orchestrated the Gasol trade... anyone who suggests that is ignorant and does not understand the integrity of "The Logo". And if that was the case- why the heck hasn't West come back to take a position with the Lakers?

Mitch Kupchak for the first time in his tenor as Lakers GM made a wise-trade. His other wise moves were: re-signing Kobe and not trading Bynum during the summer.

Whoa... is this issue still in debate? I really would like to think that Mr. Clutch didn't have anything to do with Gasol being traded to the Lakers from Memphis. He's been out as the Grizz' GM since July of last year. We can point the finger to the current GM (Chris Wallace, I think) as the one who gave away their franchise player.

Just wondering.... if the trade have been consummated before the season began, will there be such an outcry of unfairness from the so-called haters? Didn't hear a peep when the Celtics scooped up KG and Ray Allen!

That was definitely an uneven trade. Kwame Brown actually hurt the Lakers while he was on the floor, and Memphis gave up Pau Gasol in his prime (meaning the Lakers will be Championship contenders for years to come) for basically nothing.

I agree that it ain't actual needed. It has no bearing in anyway on how the league is administered and how the interest is performed. besides, i think of it extremely is a installation tribute to between the interest'S appropriate gamers and, in a while, EXECUTIVES. apart from, Jerry West's silhouette is pleasing because it extremely is. it extremely is user-friendly yet timeless as ever. valuable, MJ is broadly recognized by using fact the G.O.A.T. even though it would not follow that the NBA ought to undertake the nicely wide-unfold "Jumpman" logo. interior the 1st place, it extremely is already owned by potential of Nike. i think of we'd greater helpful bypass away the emblem because it extremely is. As of now, there is not any compelling reason to try this.

enough with the conspiracy theories. what really happen was that the grizzlies owner didnt want to pay huge amounts of money so he traded big time players for young players with low salaries. any team could have had gasol, but the owners didnt want to pay the luxury tax except for the lakers owner.
