Question:
Should Texas and California be allowed to have 3 to 4 teams to make it to the playoffs?

I mean come on -

California has the: Golden State Warriors, LA Clippers, LA Lakers, Sacremento Kings

Texas has the: Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs

That really increases the chances for those states to win!

Is that really fair!

Bandwagon fans in those states can just jump around to whatever team is making it

I think that stinks when other states only get one shot at the title

They should spread these teams around or allow any state to create more teams!

I don't think that it is right for one city to have two teams. I think that they should get the top 30 populated cities and let those cities have the teams. Now it is true that places like Florida, Texas and California will have more teams. They also have more people, so it makes perfect sense to me. I don't get how states have teams. (Indiana Pacers)

It seems fair to me. It is all about making money and market share.

I honestly don't know many bandwagon fans in Texas or California.

I don't cheer for either the Rockets or the Mavs, actually I loathe the Mavs and root against them all the time. I don't think you will find many Spurs fans that go all out to cheer for those two team when the Spurs are out of the playoffs.

In California, there are no Laker fans jumping on the Nor Cal bandwagon. Some people would like So Cal and Nor Cal to be completely different states.

You can look at other places that have teams in close proximity and I don't see people complaining about that. The Knicks and Nets are virtually in the same place only miles apart. Portland and Seattle are only a 3 hour drive apart (same distance ans San Antonio and Houston)

Many of the Eastern Conference teams are fairly close to each other and honestly, I don't know many Heat fans that become Magic fans just because they live in Florida!

Sorry but it has nothin to do with the state. City support, overall NBA fan base, and them dollar bills are what bring a team to a city. Any state can have as many teams as it wants so long as the city they plan on bein in has those three things. True, bandwagon fans can jump around but a true fan of any one team generally thinks the other teams in the state as rivals so thats not an issue.

And to the dumbass who answered like 2 above me, Youre right we do give the league more money. We have a bigger population, therego a bigger fan base, therego more people to spend their cold hard cash on the teams in that state. The reason a team from Texas and Cali have won, whatd you say 6 outa 8?, championships is cuz we have the most teams. Simple probability. The more teams you have the more chances you have to win. Please use your brain before answering another question.

These states have enough to support multiple teams

Hell Los Angeles has enough fans to support 2 teams in the same town

brings up in-state rivalries as well from Northern California and Southern California

These teams wouldn't get near the love in other states and who are you really going to take a team from?

the states that want and can support a team will be given an expansion team in the next few years or Seattle is most likely moving in the next few years.

Not like any of these teams are new expansion teams, they've been here awhile

it truly is because California and Texas are both greatest states and mixed make up about 20% of the U. S. inhabitants. California on my own has 37 million human beings in it. There are some states that do not actually have a million mil. NoCal and SoCal are truly 2 diverse states with populations of 15 and 22 million respectively. i do not want to work out California communities flow away with the conceivable exception of the Lakers. I do imagine it truly is a real danger although. i does no longer be shocked to work out the Clips or Kings flow to both Las Vegas or Seattle sometime.

What does it matter? It's not a state that is competing for a championship, it's individual teams. How does a state "win" anything? Just b/c you might be from a small state don't get all jealous of larger states.

You have to have a market to support a professional franchise and since TX and CA have a lot of people they have a lot of markets for teams. Why would you put a team in a state like Alaska, Wyoming, or North Dakota? They don't even have a big enough market to support a team.

It's totally not about the number of teams each state should have. Not all states has a fan base for a particular sport. If the teams are not marketable, then they will not survive. This is one of the most common reason why teams go "up-for-sale" every so often, or they move to a different city/state.

And if you notice, sports teams are usually in the more populated areas of a state. So, if you're in Rhode Island, Alaska, Vermont, and others.....you're probably SOL when it comes to professional sports teams.

So bottomline, it's all about money. If a team doesn't make enough money from tickets and concessions sales, then owners will not be able to afford the team and its players. I believe most teams are privately held companies/owners. They are not funded or subsidized by local governments.

California and Texas give Stern and the refs the most money. That's why the NBA Champion 6 out of the last 8 years and Western Conference Champion all 8 years has come from those two states.

thats where the market is so thats where the teams are. Texas and california are the size of three states each. So if houston wins dallas isn't excited about it.

Stop whining. Go create more teams in your state.

It's a business!! You open business in markets where you can make money. It has nothing to do with being fair.
