Question:
Why is the home court (field) advantage greater in basketball than it is in football and baseball in playoffs?

Football:
The better team hosts the only game because they don't play a series of games.
The fans can affect the visiting team by making noise so the players can't hear the QB signals.
Weather is a factor. Teams are custom built for their climate and grass vs. turf conditions.

Baseball:
Fans can directly affect some plays. A foul hit in the first row of seats, the fans move out of the way for the home team.
The field dimensions are all different. Teams are custom built to take advantage of their home field.

Basketball:
The court dimensions are all the same.
The court surface is all the same.
Weather is not a factor.

But even considering all of the above, the home team in basketball seems to have a bigger advantage in the playoffs, than they do in football and baseball.

Why do you believe this is so?

It's in a confined space so the noise level is intense. Home teams feed off the energy. Road teams get razzled by it.

Home field is advantageous to all sports for a number of reasons. Home field removes the travel and time zone situations from the field of play. Players are usually more comfortable at home since they play more games there. Basketball arenas being enclosed arenas probably seems to favor home teams more because of the noise factor. A rowdy home fan base can distract the opponents more easily than say baseball or football. Noise can make players nervous and cause players not to hear each other or the coach thus causing more miscues.

I disagree that basketball has a better homecourt advanateg than baseball because the home team can bat last and what you stated above. Basketball home courts can be extremely hostile environment's for players to play in.

probably that in football and baseball, they play outdoors, while in basketball, they play inside. Therefore, while the fans are cheering, the sound is trapped inside the building, while in football and baseball, the sound is going out of the stadium

A football field and a golf course. Hahahaha. Golf courses have nicely trimmed grass and then there are those occasional beautiful looking lakes.

because, the arena is closed in a building for basketball games and the crowd is much louder since you can hear them echo.
