How the hell is Duke overrated?

A number 2 SOS in the nation.
End of the year RPI 2
Coach K: 6th all-time in wins
30-7 record (with the 2nd toughest SOS)

Anyone who calls them overrated has nothing to back up their claim. You could bring up tonight's game but that is one game. One game doesn't make a team.

They are overrated because they think their good but their not. They finally got refs that could call a game fair. And if i do remember correctly Duke lost to Villanova last year also. Whats this....the fifth year in a row that they couldnt make it past the Sweet Sixteen?

Duke isn't overrated at all. Those are just UNC fans who are jealous. The only reason UNC is still in the tourney is because they have a much easier bracket.

And about Coach K he is an amazing coach. He's sixth all time in wins with 833 career wins. He led Duke to 3 National Championships and the most recent one in 2001.

And yes the only reason Duke lost that game against Nova is because we couldn't make a shot at all. Kyle Singler, Jon Scheyer, and Gerald Henderson who are our best players all shot 1-6, 2-10, and 1-5 from the 3 point line. WIth numbers like those theres no way Duke will win. When the 3ball is going down for us we are very dangerous but it just wan't falling. Duke isn't overrated at all.

All Duke is losing this year is Senior Greg Paulus, but on the other hand UNC is losing Danny Green, Tyler Hansbrough, and Ty Lawson. Next year Duke will take them out no problem. Also we recruited Ryan Kelly who is a decent big man. All Duke can do now is come back next season and make a statement, which we will as the best team in the ACC. Go Duke!

The coach has nothing on the team, thats like saying when Bob Knight was at Texas Tech that they were amazing, because he is holds the most wins. So that points shows no validity in your statement. Second, strength of schedule? I am not sure how they rank this because the ACC was not a good conference this year, look at the tournament, Clemson ranked in top 15 all year, out in first round. Maryland gets an at large bid gets crushed by memphis. Losing by 23 to a team that finished 4th in the Big East... Losing to Michigan, Wake Forest bounced out in the first round, Loss to Clemson out in first round, Loss to UNC twice... Also ACC Championship Unc was without their best player..I understand that you cant go back and play the game with him in, and not taking away the fact that Duke won it fair and square, but that factors into it, Healthy Lawson could mean UNC takes home the ACC Tourny. Outside of the conference went 3-0 against top 25, Georgetown was not a huge win, but ranked at the time. Didnt make the tournament. And 5th rank in country will drop after tournament is over, more like the number 11 team. These claims back up the fact Duke is overrated. 1 game does make a team when it comes to the NCAA Tournament, win or go home. And.. Duke hasnt won a title since '01 so that shows how much the poll voters and writers favor your team, and lets not forget this was the same team that was bounced out in 2nd round vs Big East team, also coming off a 1 point win vs Belmont. Year before that bounced out in first round by VCU. Stats for Duke speak for themselves.

They are not overrated, but they really looked like crap tonight. They didn't have the offense that we saw when they played Carolina and they were careless and sloppy on defense. I'm not really surprised that they didn't go any further though. A Sweet 16 appearence was an o.k. finish to the season. The team didn't have a remarkable Final Four kind of talent, but they also didn't deserve to lose in the first round. Nothing to really be disappointed about except for the fact that they didn't even challenge Villanova in the second half.

They were a very good regular season team, just like last year. However, without a real post presence, they weren't built to be a legitimate threat in the post-season. I think it's time Coach K stops taking coaching advice from Mike D'Antoni and gives up on the perimeter oriented offense. In the NCAA, you need some size or you are going to get pushed around like they did tonight.

Because they consistently lose early in the tournament. Regular season accolades mean nothing if they're not backed up by results in the tournament.
