My friends and family have been telling me for 2 years or so that I need to be realistic for my goals and ill never make it to the next level. I always fight back against them and blow off whatever they said because I know I will play and make a impact on a team. I am actually going to meet a coach at a small d3 private school tomorrow but was wondering if you would take a chance on myself if you were a coach of a team.

In high school the only time I played varsity was my junior and senior year (I was too small at 5 feet tall but grew to 5'8 and 5'9 the last 2 years of high school). I was the starting point guard for the only 2 years on varsity without previous experience. We were a small d3 high school so its very hard to get noticed. My senior year I had lead my team to a 16-7 record after our varsity went 0-21 my freshman year. I averaged 9.8 ppg, 7.4 apg, 4.6 rpg 2.1 spg and 1.5 tpg. We won sectionals my senior year as well.

Now I am 5'10 153lbs. I have never really weight lifted since our coaches never took us in there and we could never use them because it was always locked. I am looking forward to lifting weights. I play in an adult league now and the 7 games I have played in we have won. In that league I am averaging over 20ppg and over 8apg. It is the same time style length as college games. Each year i feel myself growing more confidence and learning on what kind of player i actually am. I have only been playing high level competition for only 3 years and feel like i am one of the best around and will only get better. The newspaper for my senior year said that I was the best point guard and all around player in the area. Would you take a chance on a player like myself???

the only thing that would turn me away as a coach looking at you for a point is your over confidence. there is nothing wrong with confidence but when your over confident meaning you know that your good coaches think your uncoachable because you already act like you know everything. but stat wise your ok for a point guard the only thing you should try and get up or your steals not only does a pg have to be able to control the offense they also have to be a leader on defense as well

At my school it was very small and when we played open gyms other kids would show up and play too sometimes. You dont know any kids on the team? Have them talk to the coach. If your good enough to play then he would play you. Just become friends with the kids on the team and they will plug you in.
