People hate Kobe because most people are little robots that follow and say what the next person said. I bet 1/2 of the Kobe haters don't even watch Lakers games.

I'm a big Lakers \ Kobe fan. Back in the day I used to hate MJ. Not the first 3, but the last 3 rings. I guess if you are not a fan of the team you have to hate the best in the NBA. I understand, but I don't know why they go to all that off court stuff???? If Kobe sucked how could he be the leading scorer in the NBA 2 years in a row and going on 3? The team doesn't matter cuz I don't see anyone in Toronto being the leading scorer, Atlanta, Memphis, any other sub .500 team!!! Kobe would be just as good in Phoenix, Dallas, or San Antonio! His D is one of the Best in the league, and his offense is the best. With all that said, if I was, lets say, a Mavs fan or Suns fan, I would hate him too. He is too good not to hate. Dose anyone hate Tom Smith or anyone like that... no!!!! It's a big sign of Respect and he knows it.

Funny how last year people were chanting MVP to Kobe all over, like in Boston, and now that they have a good team they Boo him. Maybe thats another piece of evidence to my theory.

He's a psychopath. He also seems to have spent half of his formative years studying Jordan's facial expressions so he could imitate them on the court.

Anyone who doesn't think he's the best player in the world has their head up their ***, however. The Kobe worshippers are even more deluded than the haters. (see above)

In all honesty I can't say I hate Kobe. He's a great player and just amazing offensively in terms of basketball skill. However, my guess would stem around all of the drama and hype that has gone on around Kobe, what with the media calling him the greatest since Michael Jordan, many comparing him to Michael Jordan, etc... There's just been so much drama and hype circulating this guy that he doesn't really get a break. People call him a ball hog (despite averaging 4.9 assists per game), because he was expected to take his team to the finals. Add on top of that the drama with the trade and Jerry Buss and Lakers team situation, it's just someone people get fed up hearing about.

the fact is that kobe is amazing and ur a *****. hes amazing and there is no reason for him to hide it. yea he can be a ball hog but u would too if u had to play with some of the players he does. he takes matters into his own hands and does amazingly. he is an all around amazing player. and dont call him concited or arrogant cuz u dont kno him and u never will so shut the hell up. ur just a hater that doesnt know ****.

People that hate him, hate him because he's a confident player, some would mistake that for cocky. He doesn't really help himself either, i mean with all that colorado drama, the whole shaq leaving thing, the ridiculous trade demand which he has the last say in. He's tried to change and at one point people were just looking at him as a basketball player, and then the whole kidd bynum thing came up publicly.

bill walton said the other day in his interview by bill simmons...

"players today try to play out their career the way michael jordan played in the few remaining ticks of the shot clock. and that is what's wrong with the NBA today."

only bronbron lovers hate kobe. and only kobe lovers hate bronbron. the rest of us are just shaking our heads coz we know that michael was the best.

1) Kobe has beaten their teams A LOT OF TIMES and therefore causing a lot of heartbreaks

2) Against all odds, Kobe puts up spectacular performances and keeps his team in the game TILL THE END

3) Just like the Yankees, the Lakers have been one of the best and successful franchise of this sport, so everyone likes to hate on the big guys...Kobe plays for a historic franchise, so its only natural that he's hated even more than a normal superstar

4) Most people in the media thought he would fail miserably when he entered the league...but he won the rookie all star game MVP, won the slam dunk contest (rookie year) and then became an all star while playing OFF THE BENCH in his second year in the league. They've made one prediction after another to see him fail...but he's shattered their expectations and just keeps fighting and has now reached the top of the mountain. Haters are gonna kick and scratch to bring him down...because there's nowhere else to go but down when you're no.1 and at the top

5) Kobe haters are not gonna go away anytime soon. They are haters...they are ignorant and they're in denial. They don't give any credit where its due and talk rubbish all the time and dismiss his accomplishments...thats why they're called haters. Just ignore them

JR

whats wrong with calling Shaq out?

D-wade and Pat Riley did the exact same thing last week to motivate him and look how he responded...the question is whether he can keep it up

now he wasn't in such a bad shape back in LA, like he's in now in Miami, but dude was fat and lazy. He wouldn't help out on pick and rolls and was huge liability on defense. Opposing guards always that midrange 17-18 footer whenver Shaq's man set a screen.

Also Shaq doesn't block out to rebound...if the ball is in his vicinity, all he does is reach out and grab it. For a guy his size he regulary should've averaged 13+ a game.

Looking from the outside, yes calling out a teammate is wrong...but here in LA we all know someone needed to tell Shaq to get things straightened out because we all know he won't motivate himself to do that. Its been discussed multiple times behind closed doors, but Shaq never got himself in shape and worked hard.

Phil jackson said this

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2708333

""He's the one guy that didn't really like to work," said the coach who boasts nine NBA championship rings. "I know Pat [Riley] got him working here in Miami. We had a hard time getting him to work."

Kobe works his azzz off in the offseason putting all his soul, sweat and blood to improve his game, work with coaches, look at video, scout the opponents, etc...Shaq does none of that....you don't think he has a right to question Shaq's work ethic?

I know he should've handled differently but Lakers fans here are glad that Kobe spoke out...cuz Shaq wouldn't take anyone else's words seriously

About the rape case

well what did you expect? dude's like what 24 and he's young and a little immature...he got scared and denied committing adultery at first. I know he should've handled better but he admitted that he lied and asked for forgivness from fans and the organization multiple times...and he has done everything he could in the past 3 years on and off the court to redeem himself.

About bring Shaq's name up in the Colorado case...well he should'nt have done that. He deserves all the heat for that.

About Karl Malone

Dude's ankle was messed up...he said he's gonna retire. If he can play basketball, why didn't he sign up with another team then? Malone was done...thats why he didn't come back

yes part of it had to do with Kobe's wife

Yes Karl Malone made passes at her and Vanessa Bryant admitted that he did...Kobe just wanted to protect her thats all. Should he have handled it better? Of course. But he had the right intention in mind.

Bout the Bynum video tape:

Kobe didn't know he was taped...and besides he isn't the first person in the history of the game to bash his teammate to his friends or whoever you know? come on now, give me a break.

Bad PR but he isn't the first person to talk smack about his teammate.

And besides that motivated Bynum...the very next week after the tape came out, Bynum called up coaches Brian Shaw and Kurt Rambis and started working with them to improve his game. Look at him now, he's playing like 24 minutes a game and averaging a double double. Bynum was out of shape and his work ethic was poor...Phil jackson even admitted that. But ever since that "kobe tape" Bynum transformed himself to show what he's really capable of...Kobe and Bynum actually work out together after practices.

1) He isn't the first rookie to shoot airballs in crunch time. Del Harris was fired because he was hindering Kobe's development and wasn't being patient with kid. Jerry West had enough of that and fired him

2) Ran Eddie Jones and Nick Van Exel out of town?

you gotta be kidding me...yea those guys were all stars but trading them was the righ thing to do since Fish and Kobe were the future backcourt! (Besides Nick the quicks shot selection pissed off the coaches)

3) Yes he had trouble with his teammates...most of the guys were going to strip clubs after the games on the road, while kobe was 18 years old playing games in his hotel room...major disconnect here

4) Shaq isn't the most dominate player ever..Wilt is on the offensive end, Russel is on the defensive end

When the zone defenses are clamped on, without a pentrator like Kobe on the team, Shaq would be useless since he sucks at moving his feet (this was after the 3 peat)

5) Vanessa admitted Karl flirted with her

6) Kobe's huge mistake. He deserved the heat for bringing up Shaqzilla's name

7) Yes the Lakers didn't want to lose games so they used their private jets to bring him in on time for the games.

"Innocent until proven guilty"...enough said

btw Kwame brown was accused of rape last year...he didn't get enough heat? he was eventually proven innocent...go figure

8) He dribbles himself into bad situations? its called penetrating into the paint to kicout to open teammates on the perimeter...if the teammates can't knock shots down then yea Kobe is gonna look like the fool.

Kobe did defer to Shaq...they did win 3 rings together...somthing must've clicked right?

Besides only after the 3 peat when Shaq was breaking down was Kobe and Phil's plan on giving the ball to Shaq unless he was wide open in the 4th quarter...dude sucks at free throws..Hack a shaq cost us multiple games, took us out of comebacks, etc

Give chances to young players? other than Bynum and Butler in the recent years, he has had no legit talent around him on the team...where's Kareem Rush, Jannero pargo, Devean George, Mike Pentberhty, Jelani McCoy, Greg Foster, etc...all these guys the Lakers drafted who were young guys...all left the lakers and where are they now?

10) Kobe wants out because Mitch and Buss are building for the future instead of building a team that is a championship contender NOW...which is what Dr. Buss promised to do...besides mediocrity is never an option for us lakers fans. We want to win a championship now with a superstar on the team...Buss being Ok with second round of playoffs is unacceptable

The reason why people hate Kobe Bryant does not have much to do with his talent as compared to the things he say and the controversy he causes. MJ was the considered the best during his playing days and there are those who disliked him but they still respected him enough, even though they may considered their idols, Magic Johnson or Larry Bird to be better players. Whenever a situation occurs, Kobe always says something that would make the situation worse. MJ knew better and always kept his mouth shut because he didn't want any negative publicity. Everyone has faults and skeletons in their closets but if the media doesn't know about it, no one gets hurt. I'll give you a few example of the things Kobe does that tarnishes him image even more.

Strike 1

When Kobe and Shaq played together in L.A., they were cool but I'm pretty sure they had problems on the inside that was never discussed. Shaq had a problem with Kobe launching more shots and not sharing the ball. Shaq complained about it. Instead of lessening the tension by sitting down and having a 1-on-1 talk behind close doors to resolve the problem, Kobe blew up to the media by talking about Shaq's weight problem and his tendency to skip games because of a minor toe injury. He made Shaq lose face and their relationship could never be saved. Granted, Shaq should have approached Kobe about his tendency to shoot more than pass it inside but 2 wrong does not make a right. You destroy the chemistry and morals of the team when you openly embarrass your teammate in front of the media like that.

Strike 2

The rape case in Colorado. If Kobe would have came straight out and admitted his fault from the beginning instead of letting the evidence come out, he would have saved himself from being posed as a liar. Instead, he played it off like Michael Vick and denied the allegations until he had no choice but to admit that he committed adultery.

http://www.e-sports.com/articles/793/1/Sticks-and-stones/Page1.html

"Kobe deceived all of his fans and the media. His once "clean-cut" image was simply a facade. When the rape allegations first leaked out, he completely denied that he was even with any other woman. He went so far as saying, "You know me," assuming that everyone perceived him as the young, all-American NBA superstar who does not get into any trouble outside of the basketball court. In other words, people thought of him as a model citizen. He was also considered as a person whom all young, aspiring basketball players could look up to.

Those perceptions could not be further from the truth. Kobe eventually admitted to committing adultery, but did not rape the accuser -- allegedly. "

Strike 3

During his trial instance in Colorado, Kobe made a statement that got out the media (not sure if he made it to the media or not) that if he would have done what Shaq did and paid off the whores, he would never be in this situation. By doing that, Kobe basically dragged Shaq's reputation down with him.

http://blog.sportscolumn.com/tag/sex

This was never proven and where was it Kobe's place to say things about other players. Shaq responded with fury to Kobe's accusation. My point is, why would you drag another person, not to mention a former teammate into your mess if you were such a noble human being? You don't see Magic Johnson or Wilt Chamberlin dragging teammates into the same situation when they were found guilty of adultery.

Strike 4

The year after Gary Payton and Karl Malone joined the Lakers, Kobe went on air to make state about Karl Malone that caused him not to return to the Lakers the following year. Malone was thinking about coming back until Kobe said,

"it's not really fair to hold (Malone's status) over the guys' heads that are here. You can't sit up here and speculate for the remainder of the season whether or not he's going to come back."

http://tvnz.co.nz/view/page/411317/463358

This statement pissed off the Mailman so he decided not to return to the Lakers. When Kobe was confronted with his statement as the reason why the Lakers were losing a Hall of Fame power forward, instead of manning up to his mistakes and admitting what he sad may have been premature - he started a rumor mill about Karl Malone making passes at his wife. I mean, C'mon now. The Mailman is a 19 year veteran who respects Kobe a great deal to know who was the franchise player on the team so why would he stoop to such level? Everytime Kobe tries to deny an accusation, he makes the situation worse just like this one, by making unproven allegations.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6703149

Strike 5

A few years after getting the Lakers to commit to Kobe and trading away Shaq, this past summer, he goes to the media and bashes Lakers management and his teammates (Andrew Bynum). There have been rumors of a video tape specifying what Kobe said. Kobe apologized later for his conduct but what's done is done and the damage has already been engraved in stone. How Kobe's teammates and Andrew Bynum respond to his presence on the court next season remains to be seen.

Here is a little more research displaying how Kobe has tarnished him image in more ways than enhanced it.

"KOBE’S WAY:

1. Embarrassed himself and cost Del Harris his job by recklessly shooting air ball after air ball against Utah in the playoffs.

2. Ran Eddie Jones & Nick Van Excell out of town.

3. Battled with teammates through three championships polarizing the club into two camps (Kobe, and his kiss up friend Rick Fox, and the rest of the Lakers in Shaq’s camp).

4. In 2004, forced the franchise to trade the most dominate player (and most un-tradable in terms of reciprocity) ever. BTW – any idiot Laker fan who sites this being a Buss/Kupchak decision is an imbecile.

5. Kobe ran off Karl Malone after publicly accusing him of making passes at his wife.

6. Shaq was gone to Miami, but when the police arrested him in Colorado and questioned him, Kobe actually brought up Shaq’s name and said “Shaq does this all the time, he just pay’s them off”. Wow – how’s that for maturity.

7. All the while he was fighting Rape charges in Colorado, the fans myopically stood by him, and the obtuse organization actually allowed him to use their private jet so he could be in court at 8 am and on the court by 7:35 pm. I remember local stations tracking his ware bouts on the freeways prior to games – al la OJ. On a side note. Let me just get this straight. The NFL wants to suspend Michael Vick on the allegations alone for Dog Fighting and Kobe was not only allowed to play during his rape case, but cheered gleefully by fans. Nice priorities America.

8. On the court Kobe constantly dribbles himself into bad situations like triple teams, he does not get the young players involved and never, never looks to pass into the post (Remember the battles with Shaq and passing into the post?).

9. After being the good company man saying it is a young team and they are growing etc, etc, now he is demanding a trade. Yeah Kobe, it just isn’t as easy without the supporting cast you ran out of town is it. And it must be devastating to your ego to hear your boyfriend Doug Collins doting over Lebron and Wade in the playoffs while you sit home with your wife and that 4 million dollar blood diamond you bought her after your publicly admitted to an affair.

10. So now Kobe wants out, but instead of handling it like a man and approaching Mictch Kupckak, he goes to the media."
