1) Kobe has beaten their teams A LOT OF TIMES and therefore causing a lot of heartbreaks
2) Against all odds, Kobe puts up spectacular performances and keeps his team in the game TILL THE END
3) Just like the Yankees, the Lakers have been one of the best and successful franchise of this sport, so everyone likes to hate on the big guys...Kobe plays for a historic franchise, so its only natural that he's hated even more than a normal superstar
4) Most people in the media thought he would fail miserably when he entered the league...but he won the rookie all star game MVP, won the slam dunk contest (rookie year) and then became an all star while playing OFF THE BENCH in his second year in the league. They've made one prediction after another to see him fail...but he's shattered their expectations and just keeps fighting and has now reached the top of the mountain. Haters are gonna kick and scratch to bring him down...because there's nowhere else to go but down when you're no.1 and at the top
5) Kobe haters are not gonna go away anytime soon. They are haters...they are ignorant and they're in denial. They don't give any credit where its due and talk rubbish all the time and dismiss his accomplishments...thats why they're called haters. Just ignore them
JR
whats wrong with calling Shaq out?
D-wade and Pat Riley did the exact same thing last week to motivate him and look how he responded...the question is whether he can keep it up
now he wasn't in such a bad shape back in LA, like he's in now in Miami, but dude was fat and lazy. He wouldn't help out on pick and rolls and was huge liability on defense. Opposing guards always that midrange 17-18 footer whenver Shaq's man set a screen.
Also Shaq doesn't block out to rebound...if the ball is in his vicinity, all he does is reach out and grab it. For a guy his size he regulary should've averaged 13+ a game.
Looking from the outside, yes calling out a teammate is wrong...but here in LA we all know someone needed to tell Shaq to get things straightened out because we all know he won't motivate himself to do that. Its been discussed multiple times behind closed doors, but Shaq never got himself in shape and worked hard.
Phil jackson said this
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2708333
""He's the one guy that didn't really like to work," said the coach who boasts nine NBA championship rings. "I know Pat [Riley] got him working here in Miami. We had a hard time getting him to work."
Kobe works his azzz off in the offseason putting all his soul, sweat and blood to improve his game, work with coaches, look at video, scout the opponents, etc...Shaq does none of that....you don't think he has a right to question Shaq's work ethic?
I know he should've handled differently but Lakers fans here are glad that Kobe spoke out...cuz Shaq wouldn't take anyone else's words seriously
About the rape case
well what did you expect? dude's like what 24 and he's young and a little immature...he got scared and denied committing adultery at first. I know he should've handled better but he admitted that he lied and asked for forgivness from fans and the organization multiple times...and he has done everything he could in the past 3 years on and off the court to redeem himself.
About bring Shaq's name up in the Colorado case...well he should'nt have done that. He deserves all the heat for that.
About Karl Malone
Dude's ankle was messed up...he said he's gonna retire. If he can play basketball, why didn't he sign up with another team then? Malone was done...thats why he didn't come back
yes part of it had to do with Kobe's wife
Yes Karl Malone made passes at her and Vanessa Bryant admitted that he did...Kobe just wanted to protect her thats all. Should he have handled it better? Of course. But he had the right intention in mind.
Bout the Bynum video tape:
Kobe didn't know he was taped...and besides he isn't the first person in the history of the game to bash his teammate to his friends or whoever you know? come on now, give me a break.
Bad PR but he isn't the first person to talk smack about his teammate.
And besides that motivated Bynum...the very next week after the tape came out, Bynum called up coaches Brian Shaw and Kurt Rambis and started working with them to improve his game. Look at him now, he's playing like 24 minutes a game and averaging a double double. Bynum was out of shape and his work ethic was poor...Phil jackson even admitted that. But ever since that "kobe tape" Bynum transformed himself to show what he's really capable of...Kobe and Bynum actually work out together after practices.
1) He isn't the first rookie to shoot airballs in crunch time. Del Harris was fired because he was hindering Kobe's development and wasn't being patient with kid. Jerry West had enough of that and fired him
2) Ran Eddie Jones and Nick Van Exel out of town?
you gotta be kidding me...yea those guys were all stars but trading them was the righ thing to do since Fish and Kobe were the future backcourt! (Besides Nick the quicks shot selection pissed off the coaches)
3) Yes he had trouble with his teammates...most of the guys were going to strip clubs after the games on the road, while kobe was 18 years old playing games in his hotel room...major disconnect here
4) Shaq isn't the most dominate player ever..Wilt is on the offensive end, Russel is on the defensive end
When the zone defenses are clamped on, without a pentrator like Kobe on the team, Shaq would be useless since he sucks at moving his feet (this was after the 3 peat)
5) Vanessa admitted Karl flirted with her
6) Kobe's huge mistake. He deserved the heat for bringing up Shaqzilla's name
7) Yes the Lakers didn't want to lose games so they used their private jets to bring him in on time for the games.
"Innocent until proven guilty"...enough said
btw Kwame brown was accused of rape last year...he didn't get enough heat? he was eventually proven innocent...go figure
8) He dribbles himself into bad situations? its called penetrating into the paint to kicout to open teammates on the perimeter...if the teammates can't knock shots down then yea Kobe is gonna look like the fool.
Kobe did defer to Shaq...they did win 3 rings together...somthing must've clicked right?
Besides only after the 3 peat when Shaq was breaking down was Kobe and Phil's plan on giving the ball to Shaq unless he was wide open in the 4th quarter...dude sucks at free throws..Hack a shaq cost us multiple games, took us out of comebacks, etc
Give chances to young players? other than Bynum and Butler in the recent years, he has had no legit talent around him on the team...where's Kareem Rush, Jannero pargo, Devean George, Mike Pentberhty, Jelani McCoy, Greg Foster, etc...all these guys the Lakers drafted who were young guys...all left the lakers and where are they now?
10) Kobe wants out because Mitch and Buss are building for the future instead of building a team that is a championship contender NOW...which is what Dr. Buss promised to do...besides mediocrity is never an option for us lakers fans. We want to win a championship now with a superstar on the team...Buss being Ok with second round of playoffs is unacceptable
